Yet another close call....
Just sharing what happened around 6.45 am today (6-3-07) to my neighbour. She was driving out of her car porch for her daily routine of sending kids to school. Once she was out of her driveway and when about to go , 4 men on 2bikes passed by her car and these 2 bikes suddenly made a U turn and went to her direction with one of them holding a parang.
Apart from the minor shock, no untoward incident happened because she was very smart as she:
1)had locked all doors BEFORE she left her porch. Some cars have autolock when the brakes are depressed.
2)honked like crazy to attract attention when she saw the weapon thus causing the would be's to move on.
My reminder to others is also when returning to your house esp at night, do look out for suspicios would be's on bikes trailing you WITHOUT their bike lights on. Make a turn, by all means make hell of a many turns around your house if you feel that you are being trailed.
You have heard the saying before, prevention is better than cure.....
Take care Johannians

It is indeed saddening to view today's reuter's news that our government is not reigning in all the ropes to reduce crimes amidst their election promise. Everybody living in constant vigilance and fear of all these atrocities committed in petty thefts such as burglary, snatch thieves and recently more on serious crimes like mall shootings..... What does one has to do to keep their homes, families, properties safe...?? What has become of the world that we used to live in...?? Are the gods giving mankind warnings of sort when he belched us with tsunamis, earthquakes, global warmness, etc not to mention those that are always in war and waging war over trivial matters, miscommunications, misinterpretations and over indulgence.
Coming back into individuality reality sense, do we install an alarm system, grille our clay roofs besides all our doors, cctvs to records, collapsible panels upstairs(like the ones used by shop lots) to secure upstairs to prevent night prowlers and burglars when you are asleep. Nevertheless a gated community WOULD help, but does not anyone heard that in this controlled atmosphere there are still burglaries and thieves as was published recently of an exclusive gated property in Johor.
We leave in trying times, maybe migration to more serene and meager populated areas like the south island of New Zealand where more sheep and forestry can be seen rather than men.......enjoying a sip of red wine and some smoked cheese or Port Salut cheese for that bewildered and wonderful experience....
