HI Johannians,
No too long after I posted my New Year message, I was told by Mike Pong, Loh Chee Keong and Mak Yee Hong that Mr. Kelvin Ho Mun Yee (5A2) passed away early this morning on New Year's Day after complaining of chest pains and was admitted to a hospital.
This is indeed a very sad start to the new year BUT it is also another wakeup call to buck up on our health.
The wake will be held at the PJ Crematorium, Jalan 222, P.Jaya until 03-01-2007.
God Bless and May You Rest In Forever Peace, Mun Yee - Edward Chan.
Below are shots taken when some of us went to his wake. Clicking on the images enlarges them.

Heard from close friends that days before Kelvin's departure, he was suffering from typhoid fever and weeks before that he was advising some friends to cut down on unhealthy habits like drinking and smoking.I suspect that he may be suffering from something but did not open it for discussion with anyone.
In any case I would like to share my experience on a lady sinseh who treats Typhoid Fever ala Eastern style. She is known as Madam Wong Ngoi Kiew and the clinic cum her house is situated in Taman Pertama, Cheras. She could be contacted at 03-92859686.
This is just from my experience with my kids who got treated by her and by no means is a definitive guide to go for eastern methods. Seeing a doctor of your choice is still a priority for any sickness. Take care everyone

It's hard to describe the sadness when you lost a friend that you have known for nearly 30 years, it's harder when you are not able to attend his wake/funeral. We have known each other since we were in Form 1H and remain classmates till we left SJI in 1981, then we spent the next 2 years at Institut Ampang. I have not just lost a friend, but a very close pal whom I have shared many wonderful memories together; watching girls at Sg Wang, travelling to Penang, S'pore & many places, playing field games, parties, card games during Chinese New Year, etc. The coming CNY will surely be different without you. It's exactly 1 month since we last met, at my mom's wake, I have never imagine that it will be our last. Kelvin, I will miss your laughter & jokes, and most of all I shall miss you. Farewell my good old pal, and may you rest in peace.
It is just too sudden and i just lost for words. I remember him as a wonderful guy and i always having fun and laughters with him around. I sure miss him
It is indeed sad and shocking news. First thing I did when I read about Mun Yee ( as classmates, I have always remembered him fondly with his childhood name ) is to look as our 5A2 class picture and also of our reunion last year. I even showed his pictures to my wife and kids ....and then as if still in disbelief, I called Mak and we spoke of Mun Yee's last moments with us.
I have always remembered Mun Yee as a happy, chaty chap who loves fishing, football, girl...etc. We may never understand the way things happen the way they do but we know we will always cherish his friendship and he will long remain in our thoughts.
For now, Mun Yee and his family has our prayers, God bless him and may he rest in peace.
I have moved this message to this section and Christopher Pak has this to say in which I would "aye" to that "shrinking" feeling.
To all Johannians of Class '81, please take care of your health. Really would not like to read of any more passing of schoolmates, not at least for a long, long time.
Would like our gathering be one that is increasing in size and not shrinking in numbers.
God bless all of you this 2007. May you prosper and do well...
Chris Pak, Sc4
I still couldn't believe that this cheery guy had gone.He is one of those who could crack jokes that will make you laugh until the stomach cramps. We had known each other since the 70s as his house was just a stone throw away from mine then.
Apart from Mak's comments of the many wonderful times we had shared together. We had also fished at the pond next to his house as well as playing fireworks during CNY during the our childhood years.
I will definitely miss you my friend and may you rest in peace.
Through his undaunting faze and sometimes apparently in a world of his own whom I have never heard him once complain nor envy on other's people success eventhough of his own mediocre success, I wish you to forever be in peace now with God's blessing and enjoy the company of our other departed friend & Johanians in Alvin Ong(Sc 4) and Deva(Sc 4).
I shall always cherish the moments inscripted in me and reminisce of you when I listen to Woman in Love(Third Degree);when we were in Form 4 thereon Ebony & Ivory(Paul McCartney)when we holiday in Port Dickson while we were in college.
How you coined the phase "cover the xxxx and xxxx the base" will forever etched in our vocabularly and let us know we need to enjoy life to the fullest no matter what one may be discerned and left with in life.
To this we will surely miss your wit, humour and thundering strength on our next 5 Arts 2 gathering of which toast we shall look forward in your honour.
To err is human to cherish is your choice and to the rest PLEASE stay healthy, eat wisely and do always(exercise ah!!)......
